Fragrance Oil
I received a fragrance oil version of this perfume in my mystery bag last year, and i'm ashamed to say I only just opened it this month. In the rollerball it doesn't smell like a lot other than sweet, but once you apply it to the skin it really comes to life! The fruits really come out to play after a couple of minutes. At first all I got was honey, then the orange started to emerge. After a few more minutes as the fragrance settles and warms, i'm hit with a punch of crisp green apple, followed by a strong undercurrent of honey. The musk seems to be playing around in the base, keeping this fruity fragrance from being too sickly sweet. So far I can’t smell the bergamot, which normally comes to the forefront on my skin, but i’m not upset about it. Bergamot has never been my favourite scent anyway. After about 30 minutes the sweet fruity notes have quieted, and the fragrance becomes a beautiful intimate sillage that i'll occasionally smell as i'm moving around. This is not one that will scent throw or leave a trail, but that someone will pick up if they're close to you. It's deliciously inoffensive and a very safe option for office or intimate settings. I get 5-ish hours of wear out of this before needing to reapply. As someone transitioning from summer to autumn currently, this will probably be a go-to for me when I'm wanting something not so heavy this season on warmer days. A way to turn this from a 4 star to a 5 star for me would be to make the base notes a little more complex. A woody base note to help ground it a little bit more, and/or a floral note like apple blossom, jasmine or patchouli to enhance the sweet fruits. Overall though, a gorgeous scent, and one I will probably layer with a more woody fragrance to give myself that complexity I feel it needs on days I want something more robust. As usual, Sydney Grace have succeeded in bringing out new products with flying colours. I just wish the fragrance oils were offered as an option on the website for those of us who live overseas (Australia) and want to try more. Maybe in the future....
